General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] becomes law, globally, on May 25^th, 2018.

If you think you’re exempt (perhaps because you think that this law only applies to companies with registered premises in Europe?) there is a quick and easy way to do a first-line check.

Open your website in a browser, add something to your cart, move to the checkout and drop down the box in the shipping address labeled ‘Country’. If the dropdown includes any European countries then you are DEFINITELY eligible. If not, then you are POTENTIALLY free of liability.

Our research shows that over 95% of users of our eCommerce platforms need to meet these requirements. 

With help from a leading global consultant, we have modified our core code, to make the platform fully compliant. The GDPR-compliant version will be out in April, in plenty of time for the May 25^th deadline.

In preparation for the law, you will need to fully understand your obligations and it is essential, as part of the legal requirement, that you issue a security policy, reassuring your shoppers that you are caring for their personally identifiable data.
