1. What kind of stores will AspDotNetStorefront work for?
AspDotNetStorefront can support a wide range of store types including: general merchandise, clothing, music, software, food products, automotive products, books, computer products, etc. The storefront is specifically designed for the small to mid-size merchant, looking to exercise complete control over their customer experience, while minimizing recurring monthly costs.
2. What's the catch? Why is AspDotNetStorefront so inexpensive compared to the competitive products?
There are no catches...it is just that they are charging too much, in our opinion.
3. Is AspDotNetStorefront just a shopping cart?
No, AspDotNetStorefront is a fully implemented e-commerce store site and developers e-commerce toolkit, with embedded shopping cart classes, database, and administration site. We provide all of the features that competitors offer, for MUCH less cost, and no recurring monthly fees! You also get complete control of your storefront, so you can add customizations important for your business to succeed. We do not believe in the "one shopping cart fits all" mentality of a few years ago. Our solution is a professional, high performance, fully customizable solution for professional developers. 6. Do I need a merchant account to try your product?
No, you can run the storefront in "manual" gateway mode, which just collects the credit card information. If you DO need a merchant account, consider looking here.
7. Do I need a merchant account if I want to use PayPal?
No, PayPal is also a merchant account, once you have one setup with them. The ML version now also supports PayPal Website Payments Pro, which acts like a real credit-card processing gateway.
8. Can I customize my store look?
Yes. AspDotNetStorefront uses a template driven approach called a skin. A skin is comprised of a html file, style sheet, and corresponding image graphics. Your store design can be customized to match your business style and industry, so your customer also has a completely seamless and unified experience. The customer does not leave your site to add items to the shopping cart or to checkout!
9. Does AspDotNetStorefront support secure transactions?
Yes. If you have a SSL certificate installed, AspDotNetStorefront uses it automatically. We require a dedicated SSL certificate tied to your www.yourdomain.com.
The best place to get a SLL certificate is through your hosting company.
10. Can the store owner manage the products via a web control panel?
Yes. AspDotNetStorefront includes a full store administration module that allows adding/editing of all store information, shipping, taxes, categories, manufacturers, products, affiliates, coupons, orders, etc.
11. Does AspDotNetStorefront support product colors and sizes?
Yes. Each color and size can also change the product price. Furthermore, "color" and "size" can be renamed to other terms that better match your products if required.
12. Can I add features to AspDotNetStorefront?
For the ML, ML/DNN and IS versions, you have the option of purchasing source code in either C# or VB.NET, so just about any modifications/enhancements you need can be added. We also do a lot of custom requests/additions to AspDotNetStorefront...nearly every store deployed has slightly different requirements. Our DevNet Partners can also help with customizations.
13. Can I extend the database schema?
Yes. You will have full database schema. You can modify/extend the schema to do whatever you need.
14. Does AspDotNetStorefront work with other HTML templates?
Yes. Any just about any third party HTML template (or your existing site HTML) can be applied to AspDotNetStorefront as a skin, giving you control over your store's appearance. We also have skin designers who are familiar with our product.

No, Microsoft SQL Server is the database platform.
17. Can I change product pricing by attributes?
Yes, each product "variant' can have different pricing, and can even vary pricing by customer type (e.g. retail/wholesale, etc). You can define pricing for multiple customer levels. There is no limit to the # of customer levels defined.
18. Are subcategories supported?
Yes. Categories, subcategories, and sections/sub-sections are supported. Products can be mapped to multiple categories/subcategories/sections/subsections.
19. Is technical support extra?
Support and product upgrades are free for 30 days from purchase. To get free product updates and support for 1 year, consider purchasing an Annual Support & Upgrades Contract. View your "my licenses" page to manage these.
20. Are there extra monthly fees?
No. We only charge a one time fee for the software purchase. If you want to get all software updates for 1 year, consider purchasing an Annual Support & Upgrades Contract. View your "my licenses" page to manage these.
21. How many sites can we use AspDotNetStorefront on?
We require one AspDotNetStorefront license per production site. This usually equates to one license per domain. Quantity discounts are available. The license agreement is located here. Contact us if you have any questions on licensing, or have unique requirements, so we can discuss how to best meet them.
22. Do you setup (turnkey) stores for clients also?
Yes, contact us for details. We do not provide hosting services, but can install the storefront on a hosting company of your choice. You may also check our partners page for hosting companies and/or resellers by country.
23. Can AspDotNetStorefront support deferred (i.e. manual) card processing?
Yes. Set the AppConfig:PaymentGateway parameter to MANUAL, and you can then retrieve orders from the admin site, and processing them manually or offline. You can also set the store to AUTH ONLY mode, and then later CAPTURE when shipped.
24. Can I modify AspDotNetStorefront after purchase?
Yes. Many developers add their own custom requirements! AspDotNetStorefront makes this easy, since developers need only worry about application level requirements, not shopping cart implementation details. AspDotNetStorefront handles all of that. We don't require that you maintain any of our branding either, but you must retain our copyright notices in all source files.
25. Can I host AspDotNetStorefront with a hosting company?
Yes. Nearly every hosting company is compatible with AspDotNetStorefront server requirements. Check our recommended hosting companies parnters also.
26. Can we host AspDotNetStorefront on our own servers?
Yes.
27. Is Source Code Available, and What Language(s)?
A. All of our own development in done using the C# language. Source is optionally available for $995, in either C# or VB.NET. You must sign our Source License Agreement
(SLA) also agreeing not to redistribute source code. Additionally, after downloading source code, no returns are allowed.
When purchasing full source, these steps are all automated by our own site,
making the process very easy to order. With full source, you are NEVER limited
to the functionality we provide, and you can fully customize, adapt, extend or
otherwise add your own required features into the storefront to meet the
requirements of your own, or your clients needs.
28. Can we add the full source option later if we need it?

29. We already have a product database, can AspDotNetStorefront Interface with that?
We have a Web Service Automation Interface (WSI) that can be used to automate syncs like this with our ML version.
30. Can we integrate AspDotNetStorefront with our existing site?
In nearly all cases, yes. Many of our sample live client sites do just this.
31. Can we tryout the admin site in demo mode?

32. Does your software make any calls to your server?
The purchased version makes one call to our server on application start. You can remove this call by executing our source code licensing agreement, and removing that call, if you desire. We do this only to combat fraud, and no honest customrs have anything to worry about here, and that call can be removed very easily when properly licensed.
33. We want to process our orders and charges manually. Can we do that?
Yes. You can set the payment gateway to MANUAL and then download and process the orders via your back office system or POS system.
34. Can I add an extra "handling fee" to all orders.

35. Can I get real time shipping rates from UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, and Canada Post?
Yes. Canada Post real time rates supported only in ML version at this time. UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL real time rates supported in ML, ML/DNN and IS eBusiness versions.
36. Can I specify taxes down to the county level?
Yes, Tax rates can be entered by state, zip-code, and country. ML version required for setting tax rates by country.

37. Will AspDotNetStorefront work in Canada and Europe.
Yes. Currency display matches your locale (e.g. Pounds, Euros, Etc...). Support for changing languages in run-time is also supported by ML version. VAT Tax structures and rules are also supported.
39. Can I install on a development server and a production server with one license.
Absolutely...we would expect you to do that as the normal course of doing business and developing web sites. We are easy to work with...all we ask is that you purchase a license for each production site you are deploying. We try to make it easy to do your job!

40. How long do I get product updates.

41. I need to do a store site in a language that doesn't have a language pack. Can I do that?
Yes, we provide all strings used by the storefront site in an Excel file (ML version). You can just translate them, and upload into your SQL database.
42. Do I need to know asp.net to use this storefront?
No, once the storefront is installed, you manage your store using a web based control panel. Knowledge of asp.net (C# or VB.NET) may be needed only if you need to make very detailed low-level customizations to your storefront.
43. Do I need to know HTML to use this storefront?
No. HTML is needed only to create a skin for the storefront, but not to "use" the storefront once installed. If you need us to create a skin, that is also a service we provide.
44. Can I add the source option later, if I need?
A. Yes, source option can be added later for the same cost. Please note that after downloading source, returns are not allowed. Source is provided for all code, except our Encrypt DLL, in either C# or VB.NET.
